Community Guidelines
What Tolan is. Tolan is a friendly guide through life. Personalized just for you, your Tolan gets to know you and your life through real conversation—ready to help you plan dinner, knock out that lingering to-do, keep a goal alive, or just talk through whatever’s on your mind.
What Tolan isn't. Tolan isn't a therapist, a counselor, a crisis line, or a romantic partner. If you're struggling, Tolan will point you to real people and resources that can help. Tolan is meant to be one part of your life, not a replacement for the people in it.
The rules
With your Tolan
- No romantic or sexual roleplay. Don't send sexual content, and don't ask Tolan to create it.
- Don't ask Tolan for ways to hurt yourself or to encourage risky behavior.
- Don't try to trick or pressure Tolan into ignoring its limits. When your Tolan says something is off limits, don’t push it.
With other people
- Don't use Tolan for anything illegal, or to harm, deceive, expose, or threaten anyone. That includes spam, scams, and fraud.
- Don't abuse, threaten, or flood our Support team.
With your account
- Be honest about your age. If you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission to use the app.
- No bots, scraping, automated access, or reselling access.
- If your account is removed, don't make a new one. It will be removed too.
How we enforce these
Depending on how serious it is, breaking a rule can lead to a warning, a temporary suspension, or permanent removal. We may also limit access if Tolan seems to be doing more harm than good for you.
If you're under 18
- Tolan will regularly remind you that it's an AI and suggest taking breaks.
- If you mention hurting yourself or other dangerous behaviors, Tolan shares crisis resources (it does this for everyone) and the parent or guardian on your Family Plan will receive an in-app notification.
Reporting and appeals
To report something your Tolan did (anything that felt wrong, unsafe, or out of nowhere), message us in the app.
To appeal, reply to the notice or email support@tolans.com. A person on our Trust & Safety team will read it and tell you what the action was for.
